If you are already using windows follow the instructions in the following post first...

http://conquer-ur-computer.blogspot.com/2010/12/preparing-windows-to-install-ubuntu.html

You can download Ubuntu Ultimate 2.8 DVD from

http://i55.tinypic.com/104eniw.png
FOR RE FORMATTING CRASHED LINUX SYSTEM GO DOWN TILL YOU FIND CRASHED LINUX SYSTEM BELOW IN THIS POST....
http://i53.tinypic.com/wlk6a.png
Open "System --> Administration --> Gparted Partition Editor"

http://i55.tinypic.com/21obmud.png
If you are using windows already and formatted a drive for Linux go below a few images (till mentioned) for further details...

http://i55.tinypic.com/1647kg.png
See the used space for OS drive...

http://i52.tinypic.com/fw29l5.png
Select Resize/Move

http://i52.tinypic.com/10gxr43.png

Select the new size as 10GB more than used space.. Otherwise it will not work..

Remember you have to enter space required in MB ie; for 80GB ---> 80000 MB

http://i51.tinypic.com/207lx75.png
Now select Resize/Move. The new gparted structure will look like this...
This procedure not only applies for c-drive but also any drive which you want to resize... and then install Linux.

If you are using windows and formatted a drive for Linux, the partition table will look like this. You can start from HERE.

http://i53.tinypic.com/2nar479.png
Now Right click on "Unallocated" space to create new partition...

http://i52.tinypic.com/1j20zp.png

One can create at most 4-Primary partitions or 3-Primary and one "Extended partition".
One can not sub-divide a primary partition. Where as one can make any number of sub-partitions in an extended partition.

Since here already three primary partitions has been created, One should create now an extended partition.
http://i55.tinypic.com/35be3p1.png

http://i53.tinypic.com/r93edw.png

http://i56.tinypic.com/28ho2mq.png

Now the partition table will look like this
http://i51.tinypic.com/j9x63d.png

Now one can make any number of partitions inside this extended partition.
IF YOU DON'T WANT TO INSTALL LINUX, CREATE ONLY NTFS PARTITIONS HERE
ie; GO DIRECTLY TO C)
If Windows is already partitioned and you want to install in a free space already left in windows with out formatting, you need to do only partitions required for linux. ie; steps a), b) only..

If windows is already partitioned and you want to install in an empty drive, first you have to right click on it and delete in gparted and then follow steps a), b)...

a)

http://i55.tinypic.com/2s6x0fk.png
Now create partitions required for linux installation.

The sub-partitions inside an extended-partition are named as "Logical Partitions"

Ubuntu Ultimate 2.8 requires 20GB for root " / " partition, 10-20GB for home " /home " and 2-4GB for "linux-swap"

The swap area should be at least 4MB more than ram (1GB=1024MB) and in general minimum value for it is 2000MB (ie; for 1GB ram systems).
ie for 1GB ram ---> 2000MB linux-swap
for 2gb ram ---> 2048+4MB linux-swap
for 4GB ram ---> 4096+4MB linux-swap etc...

Let us see how to make these partitions.
http://i52.tinypic.com/b3khlj.png

the file system for root and home partitions should be of "ext4"

b)

http://i53.tinypic.com/2448z8k.png

Similarly right click on the remaining "Unallocated" space and create one more "ext4" partition for "home" as explained above.
http://i56.tinypic.com/8wxema.png
Now create partition for "linux-swap"
http://i53.tinypic.com/sqkuhw.png

C)

Now divide the remaining space into "NTFS" partitions, so that they can be used simultaneously in windows also.

http://i53.tinypic.com/21llo2w.png

http://i53.tinypic.com/2a6sh3r.png

Here i have made two NTFS partitions of 80GB and 83GB with labels ---> ENTERTAINMENT and PERSONAL.
One can create any number of these NTFS sub-partitions with different labels depending on space available and extra drives required in windows.

The final partition table will look like this.
http://i52.tinypic.com/6h28o9.png

Now click on "Apply" To apply all the changes that we have made to the partition table.

http://i56.tinypic.com/2rghrh2.png

http://i51.tinypic.com/1zx2mr.png
The final partition table should look like this.

http://i51.tinypic.com/rr402b.png

Here in the final partition table the partition sizes have been readjusted before clicking "Apply"
Now close the "Partition editor"

IF YOU JUST WANT TO RESIZE THE C DRIVE AND DON'T WANT TO INSTALL LINUX RESTART THE SYSTEM AT THIS STAGE and remove linux dvd and use windows.

  3. Though the technical glitch scared a lot of people. It was just a publicity stunt to make the event even more interesting. The intention was good the question is. Is it necessary to make a fuss just before the big event? I don't think so.jogos online 2019

  4. I am really enjoying the theme/design of your blog. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility problems? A couple of my blog audience have complained about my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this issue?

  5. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or 2 pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
